The New Product Appraising and Technical Exchange Meeting Kicked off in Far East

The Scene of the Technical Appraising Meeting

At the meeting, on behalf of the Far East, Jiang Huajun first extended a warm welcome to the 17 technical experts who attended the appraisal meeting. They are from China Electric Power Research Institute, Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI), Communication & Construction branch company of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), Grid Operation Branch of SGCC, Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute, UHV Transmission Company of China Southern Power Grid, Quality Supervision and Test Center for Electrical Material and Special Wire and Cable, Central Southern Electric Power Design Institute, North China Electric Design Institute, Jiangsu Electric Power Company of SGCC and Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd.. He gave experts a detailed introduction of the company's basic information, project establishment, research and development and the expected social and economic benefits.

He said that, Far East Composite Technology Co., Ltd. is the first company to complete design, manufacturing and promotion of carbon fiber composite wires in China and the first company to develop energy-saving series wires with carbon fiber composite cores according to different UHV transmission environments. Backed by the solid research and development experience on energy-saving series wires with carbon fiber composite cores, we have been far ahead of our peers in market share and product performance. Additionally, we are obliged to conduct dedicated research on the performances of the energy-saving series wires with carbon fiber composite cores in UHV transmission and ceaselessly strive to maintain the leading position of the company.

Xu Jing Making an On-site Introduction of the Process of Research and Development

At the session, Wang Chuanbin and Xu Jing further reported more detailed product information and technical details to the panel. And then the two parties made a full discussion. The 17 participating experts carefully listened to the trial production summary and test report made by the research members of company's technical research institute project and reviewed the relevant technical documents. 

Yao Jianhua Delivering a Report

Yao Jianhua, an engineer of the power cable research and development department of the company, reported to the experts the summary report on the development of 1660/95 large cross-section composite core conductor for UHV transmission of smart grid. Experts including You Chuanyong, Senior Researcher of China Electric Power Research Institute, Mao Qingchuan, former Chief Engineer of Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute and Ye Hongsheng, former Vice Chief Engineer of East China Electric Power Design Institute gave full recognition to the report, highly recognized the development process and the product performance and thought highly of continuous innovation of Far East in composite conductor products. The conductor has the largest cross section in the world with the diameter of the composite core up to 11.0 mm, which has high strength, high modulus, high toughness and excellent bending performance and meets the requirements of 50D bending. The cross section of the conductor reaches 1660mm2. The conductive layer is made of semi-hard and highly conductive aluminum, which not only improves the surface hardness and strength of the aluminum wire but also ensures the extension rate to match the composite core, thus perfectly combining with the composite core. Finally, experts agreed that the product is the first innovation at home and abroad and its comprehensive performance has reached the international leading level.

Later, the participants fully exchanged views on the application of the carbon fiber composite core conductor. The experts said that the carbon fiber composite conductor showed remarkable advantages in both the capacity expansion and reconstruction of the newly built electric circuit, which played an important role in the construction of smart grid and would surely become the new milestone in the construction of EHV/ UHV transmission in the state grid. Meanwhile, experts put forward fervent hopes for Far East, hoping that it could further study and standardize the construction, installation, monitoring, operation and maintenance of the carbon fiber, strengthen publicity, and expand the application of the composite core series conductors in UHV transmission lines of smart grid.

It is reported that the new product is applied to UHV transmission lines, which can meet the requirements of complex laying conditions, effectively meets the demands of long-distance wire laying in UHV power transmission projects and is suitable for construction of safe, environmentally-friendly, efficient and energy-saving UHV power grids. It application is significant to improve transmission capacity of power transmission lines and safety and reliability of power grids, to reduce the total cost of overhead power transmission and transformation projects and to environmental protection.
