Jiang Chengzhi said at the 6th China-Korea CEO Cooperation Forum

The 6th China-Korea CEO Cooperation Forum co-sponsored by China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (CICPMC), The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) and Jeju Forum was held on Jeju Island of the ROK June 26. Jiang Chengzhi, an investor, director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Far East Holding Group and Chairman of the Board of Far East Smarter Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Smarter Energy", stock code: 600869) was invited as Chinese entrepreneur representative to the forum and gave a keynote speech, marking an opportunity for Far East to develop foreign cooperation and show its comprehensive strength and international competitiveness. Wang Fan, director and general manager of international business sector of Smarter Energy also attended the forum.

At the forum, Jiang Chengzhi said from his own experience that Korean food, film, culture and economy have had an important impact on Chinese families, especially the young generation and as a Chinese citizen, he hopes that China and South Korea can share an everlasting friendship.

   He gave an introduction to Far East’s history, development and transformation and said that Chinese enterprises had benefited a lot from reform and opening-up which helped Far East grow from a small company with only 20-odd people and RMB 1.8 million of assets in 1985 to a large private enterprise with business income topping nearly RMB 50 billion, brand valuing RMB 45.79 billion and more than 11,000 employees. He also introduced Smarter Energy's development in cable business and clean energy.

Combined with the theme of “New Energy & Electric Vehicle”, Jiang elaborated the opportunities and challenges that enterprises face in new energy industry. Facing the huge market opportunity of new energy vehicles, Far East entered the lithium battery industry in 2015. Far East First New Energy Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Smarter Energy that produces cylindrical 18650 and 21700 batteries for Tesla. Its sales in 2017 exceeded RMB 1.5 billion with operating income reaching RMB 1.56 billion, a year-on-year growth of 54%. Jiang said that there’s a huge cooperative space between the two countries in new energy and intelligent manufacturing. 80% of China's high-end intelligent production facilities are from South Korea and Chinese enterprises have hired many South Korean experts in mechanical manufacturing, material development and battery manufacturing. He hoped that through the forum, the experts and entrepreneurs from the two countries could communicate and exchange with each other to explore the full development of new energy as well as win-win cooperation.

Topics discussed at the forum include “Opportunities and Crises in East Asia”, “Peaceful Cooperation Concept in Northeast Asia” and “Information Platform Built for Low-carbon Growth in Northeast Asia”. The forum, also known as South Korea’s World Economic Forum, consists of six sub-forums covering diplomatic security, economics, environmental climate change, female diplomacy and cultural exchanges. The cooperation between China and South Korea remained the focus of the forum. Political leaders and entrepreneurs from different countries discussed how to build “a new trustworthy and harmonious Asia” and produce relevant plans.

CICPMC is a non-governmental organization approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China and registered in Ministry of Civil Affairs to specialize in the work related to multinational corporations in China, and was granted Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Founded in 1961, FKI is South Korea's largest and most influential comprehensive economic group, aiming at improving the South Korean market economic system, promoting economic development as well as the internationalization of South Korea. Jeju Forum is an important platform for exploring cooperation and prosperity in Asia and has become a representative of public diplomatic forum in South Korea.
