Smarter Energy Lightens up Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

    The construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), a “super project in this century” achieved new breakthroughs. At present, the last procedure of the bridge construction, the installation of expansion joint is in progress, which means that this 22.9-km-long bridge is soon to be open to traffic and will comprehensively enter the bridge deck paving phase. As a strategic provider for traffic engineering of the main construction of the HZMB, Smarter Energy Co., Ltd.     The bridge is 29.6km long, consisting of a 6.7km immersed tunnel and 22.9km bridge. The traffic engineering of the construction of the HZMB is an essential constituent part that ensures high-speed, safe, comfortable and normal operation of the bridge. Far East Cable Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Smarter Energy won the bid for intelligent transportation system with a tender price of RMB 0.12 billion and comprehensively applies it to relevant facilities regarding lighting, power supply and distribution, comprehensive centers for tolling and communication of the Contract Section CA02 of traffic engineering of the HZMB project.

    HZMB is another major infrastructure project after the Three Gorges Project and Qinghai-Tibet Railway in China. The bridge spanning the waters of Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary, is a world-class sea-crossing passage linking the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Zhuhai City of Guangdong Province and Macao Special Administrative Region. Once completed, it would fundamentally change the passenger and freight transport between the west bank of the Pearl River and Hong Kong which used to be mainly via water way and detouring by land. As a result, it will further complete the comprehensive transportation system and expressway network among the Mainland, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, which is of a great strategic significance for the coordinated development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
